ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This piece depicts the significance of the train and the horse in the development of Manitoba and the prairies in general. This piece also focuses on the Native term for the train “The Iron Horse”. I have fond memories of riding the Prairie Dog Central as a child, and drew on this nostalgia for this piece. You can see a mural of this piece on Sutherland and Main, Winnipeg, Manitoba.
